what kind of seeds do wild bird prefer
My prediction was partly correct. As predicted the Black Sunflower seeds were most popular. This was closely followed by the French White Millet seed. However it was the Niger seeds that was least favorite not the Wild Berry Pellets as predicted. Smaller birds seem to prefer smaller seed. Sparrows and Finches were seen eating the French White Millet seed. However bigger birds such as Blackbirds and Miners could handle the bigger Black Sunflower seeds but also ate the Millet. Some of the results may have been affected by rodents eating the seed. Also over the 4 weeks there was some rain and wind that may have caused some loss of seed. These results may explain why Black Sunflower seed appears to be the easiest bird seed to find in pet stores and supermarkets. These results also explain why Black Sunflower seed and French White Millet seem to make up the majority of wild bird seed mixes.

This term for Inquiry we have been working with the Tawa Teachers and students to come up with a game we can teach them and play with them. Our game is called blob tag. How to play: first thing you do is chose a tagger and that person can tag people when you get tagged you join on them. When there is four people connected they split into two different groups.it was fun.

All About Me"Hi" my name is Jack and I am in room 9. My teacher is Mrs Strathern. My favorite subject at school is reading but I need to work on writing. I enjoy reading humourous chapter books. At lunchtime I like to play bullrush and rugby with my mates. I play saxophone in senior and junior band. It is really fun. The saxophone is a cool instrument to play. My after school hobbies are shooting at wooden targets, hunting for rabbits with our dog Rocky, and hanging out down at our river.
When I grow up I want to be a wildlife researcher. I want to help endangered species like the Black Faced Spoon Bill. Wildlife researchers study animals behaviour in their natural habitats. Good bushman skills are needed for this very important job of helping the environment which is something I am interested in developing.
When we got to the marae we got welcomed on by Whaea Cathie who did a karanga to us. After that we made our beds and put away our bags as quick as we could. We then got into activities. The first one I did was weaving the putiputi. It was hard but I still enjoyed it. I was happy with my end result and I gave it to my Mum. I also learnt the rako sticks and a waiata. The last activity was wood carving - this was my least favourite because it was too hard.
I enjoyed dinner. There was heaps of yummy food thanks to the parents. I helped do the dishes after dinner. All of us boys slept together in a cramped room. It was hot and noisy but I had a good sleep. I have stayed at my marae in Kawhia called Waipapa but it is not as flash as Purekireki Marae.
The trip was finished with a team swim back at school. This was a good way to finish on such a hot day.
